About this card

FlixTrain is the rail arm of Flix SE, the Munich-headquartered transport group that owns FlixBus and Greyhound. Launched in 2018 as a private competitor to Deutsche Bahn on the German long-distance market, FlixTrain expanded into Sweden in 2024 by acquiring and rebranding Snälltåget. The result is two distinct intercity rail networks running under one green brand: the German mainline covering Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Stuttgart, Munich and seasonal routes to Sylt and Salzburg; and the Swedish network serving Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö and the Stockholm–Berlin night train.

A FlixTrain voucher is a single alphanumeric code redeemable at checkout on flixtrain.com or in the Flix app. Search the route, pick your seats, expand the "I have a voucher" field on the payment page, paste the code, confirm. The amount is deducted from your trip total — and unlike most rail vouchers in Europe, any unused balance stays attached to the code, so a €200 voucher used on a €72 trip leaves €128 on the same code for a future booking. Up to three vouchers can be combined in a single checkout.

Flix vouchers are currency-locked. The German booking flow is denominated in EUR; the Swedish booking flow is denominated in SEK. The two cannot be mixed — an EUR voucher will not redeem on a Swedish route. Pick the currency that matches the trip you are about to buy: EUR if you are riding within Germany or to Sylt / Salzburg, SEK if you are booking Stockholm to Göteborg, Stockholm to Malmö, or the Stockholm–Berlin night service.

Validity is three years from issue — significantly longer than the 12-month standard at DB, ÖBB or SNCF — and the voucher works the same way the bus version does: stacks with promo codes, refunds back to the voucher balance on cancelled trips, applies to bookings of up to nine passengers in one go. FlixTrain trains are fully electric (the German mainline runs on the German rail grid; the Swedish network on the Swedish grid), making the trip dramatically lower-CO₂ than the equivalent flight on routes like Berlin–Munich or Stockholm–Göteborg. We email the code in about 11 minutes after your crypto transaction confirms; we never collect KYC.

What you get

  • A claim code, delivered by email
  • A private order page (14-day access)
  • Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
  • No FlixTrain login or ID required

How to redeem

One redemption flow regardless of which currency variant you pick.

  1. Go to flixtrain.com (or open the Flix app) and search your route — Berlin to Hamburg, Stockholm to Göteborg, etc.
  2. Pick a train, choose your seats, continue to checkout.
  3. On the payment page, expand "I have a voucher".
  4. Paste the voucher code from your delivery email and tap Apply.
  5. The amount is deducted from your trip total. Pay any remainder with card / PayPal / Klarna / SEPA, or save the rest of the voucher balance for next time.

Voucher codes are partially redeemable — leftover balance stays on the same code until the 3-year expiry.

Region terms

Specific to Euro

Euro · EUR
Adds EUR credit, redeemable on the German FlixTrain booking flow at flixtrain.com — Berlin / Hamburg / Frankfurt / Cologne / Stuttgart / Munich routes plus seasonal Sylt and Salzburg.
Universal terms
  • Voucher valid 3 years from issue. Unused balance forfeits after expiry.
  • Currency-locked to booking flow. EUR voucher → German routes (Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Sylt, Salzburg). SEK voucher → Swedish routes (Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö) and the Stockholm–Berlin night train booked on the Swedish flow. The two cannot be exchanged.
  • Partially redeemable. Leftover balance stays on the same code; up to 3 vouchers stackable on one checkout.
  • Stacks with promo codes on FlixTrain campaigns (BlackFriday, summer sale, BahnCard partnerships). Voucher applies after the discount.
  • Cancellation refunds return to the voucher balance, not to bank or crypto. Refund rules depend on fare class (Smart, Plus, Premium).
  • Bookings up to 9 passengers per checkout. Group bookings of 10+ are handled via FlixTrain Groups and do not accept vouchers on the manual invoice.
  • We never ask for KYC. We email the code in about 11 minutes after your crypto transaction confirms.
  • Refunds: re-issue or full refund in the original coin within 14 days if the code fails to redeem.

Asked & answered

Specifics for FlixTrain cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Which countries' FlixTrain routes can I book with this voucher?

FlixTrain runs two distinct rail networks under one brand. The EUR voucher covers the German mainline — long-distance trains on the Berlin–Hamburg, Berlin–Cologne, Hamburg–Frankfurt, Stuttgart–Berlin, Munich–Hamburg and Cologne–Stuttgart corridors, plus seasonal extensions to Westerland (Sylt) and Salzburg. The SEK voucher covers the Swedish network — Stockholm–Malmö, Stockholm–Göteborg, plus the night-train routes to Berlin and the Åre / Jämtland leisure line (the former Snälltåget routes, fully integrated into FlixTrain since 2024). The two booking flows are separate; you cannot pay for a Swedish route in EUR or vice-versa, so pick the currency that matches the trip you are buying.

How do I actually redeem the voucher code on flixtrain.com?

Search the route on flixtrain.com or in the Flix app, pick your train and seats, proceed to checkout. On the payment page, expand the "I have a voucher" field, paste the alphanumeric code from your delivery email, and confirm. The voucher amount is deducted from your trip total. If the trip is cheaper than the voucher, the remaining balance stays on the code and can be reused on a later booking; if the trip is more expensive, you pay the difference with any other supported method (card, PayPal, SEPA, Klarna, etc.).

Can I split one voucher across multiple bookings?

Yes — Flix vouchers are partially redeemable. If you load a €200 voucher and the trip costs €72, the remaining €128 stays attached to the same code and can be applied to any future FlixTrain booking until the code expires or the balance hits zero. Up to three vouchers can be combined on a single checkout if you want to stack credits from multiple gifts. The remaining balance does not carry across currencies — a partially-used EUR voucher cannot be redeemed on a Swedish booking flow that is denominated in SEK.

How long is the voucher code valid?

FlixTrain (and Flix) vouchers are valid for three years from the date of issue — significantly longer than most rail vouchers in Europe (DB, ÖBB and SNCF gift vouchers typically run 12 months). The expiry is printed in your delivery email and visible in your Flix account once the code is loaded. After the three-year window any unused balance is forfeited; redeem at least once before then to keep the credit alive on bookings already made.

What if I cancel a trip I paid for with the voucher — do I get the value back?

If you cancel a FlixTrain ticket within the cancellation window (rules depend on fare class — Smart fares have a refund window up to 15 minutes before departure, minus a small fee), the refunded amount is returned back to the same voucher code, not to your bank account. The voucher balance is restored and can be reused on another booking until the original three-year expiry. Refunds are not converted to crypto on our side — we only sell the voucher; FlixTrain controls the post-purchase refund flow.

Can I combine the voucher with FlixTrain promo codes or seasonal discounts?

In most cases, yes. Vouchers are treated as a payment method, not a discount, so they stack with any active promo code (FlixTrain runs frequent campaigns: BlackFriday, summer sale, student offers, BahnCard partnerships) and with already-discounted Smart-fare tickets. The promo code is applied first to lower the trip total, then the voucher pays the discounted amount. The only exception is third-party vouchers (e.g. compensation vouchers from a previous service disruption) which sometimes lock out further promo stacking — that limitation does not apply to gift vouchers.

I lost the voucher code — can I recover it?

Open your order page from the link in your delivery email — the code stays visible there permanently. If you also lose the email, the order page link is the recovery path; keep it bookmarked or screenshot the code into your password manager. We can re-resend the original delivery email on request within 14 days of purchase; after that we cannot regenerate the code on our side because the voucher is issued by Flix and we do not retain the alphanumeric value beyond the recovery window.

Does the voucher work for group bookings or international cross-border tickets?

Yes — at checkout you can pay for up to nine passengers in one booking on FlixTrain, and the voucher applies to the full basket regardless of party size. For cross-border itineraries the rule follows the booking-flow currency: a Stockholm → Berlin night train booked on the Swedish flow is in SEK and needs an SEK voucher; the same physical service booked from the German entry on flixtrain.com is in EUR and needs an EUR voucher. Group bookings of 10+ passengers go through the FlixTrain Groups team via a separate quote process — vouchers are not accepted on those manual invoices.
