About this card

A Nintendo eShop gift card adds funds to the Nintendo Switch eShop on Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED — Nintendo's digital storefront for downloadable games, indie titles, classic Virtual Console releases, paid DLC, and pre-orders. Once redeemed against your Nintendo Account, the wallet balance applies automatically to any eShop purchase, alongside the funds already on it. Free demos, free-to-start games (Fortnite, Tetris 99, Pokémon Café ReMix), and free trials don't draw on the wallet.

Each card is strictly region-locked to the issuing country store: a US card redeems only on a US-region Nintendo Account, a UK card on a UK account, a Japanese card on a JP account, an EU card on the matching EU country account, and so on. The region is set when you first create the Nintendo Account and is difficult to change later, so pick the country matching the account you actually game on. Buying the wrong region locks the funds to an eShop you can't reach.

The wallet covers everything you can buy on the eShop: full downloadable games (first-party Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, plus the entire indie shelf), paid DLC (Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass, Splatoon 3 expansions, Pokémon DLCs), pre-orders, and Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions — both Individual and Family plans, and the +Expansion Pack tier with N64, GBA, and Sega Mega Drive libraries. Set the wallet as your default payment method to auto-renew NSO from the balance.

Redeem on the console (eShop → profile icon → Redeem Code) or on the web at ec.nintendo.com/redeem. We deliver the 16-character code in about 11 minutes after your transaction confirms, by email. Crypto-rail savings: 1.5 % off retail in US/UK/CA/AU/JP, 2 % in EU stores, 3 % in Mexico. Note: 3DS and Wii U eShops were retired in March 2023 — this card is for Nintendo Switch only.

What you get

  • A claim code, delivered by email
  • A private order page (14-day access)
  • Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
  • No Nintendo login or ID required

How to redeem

Same flow on every Nintendo store — only the URL changes per region.

  1. Open the eShop from the Switch home menu and pick your user.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right of the eShop.
  3. Choose Redeem Code and enter the 16-character code from the delivery email.
  4. Funds land in your Nintendo Account wallet instantly and apply to your next eShop purchase.

Web alternative: sign in at ec.nintendo.com/redeem with the matching-region Nintendo Account and paste the code there. JP, US, and EU stores are separate — make sure you're signed into the account whose region matches your card.

Region terms

Specific to United States

United States · USD
Redeem on a US-region Nintendo Account at ec.nintendo.com/redeem or in the Switch eShop. $70 covers a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack 12-month Individual membership. No expiry on the wallet balance.
Universal terms
  • Region-locked to the Nintendo Account country. A US card only redeems on a US account, JP on a JP account, EU country card on the matching country account, etc.
  • Nintendo Switch only. 3DS and Wii U eShops were retired in March 2023 and no longer accept funds.
  • Validity: indefinite in US/CA/AU/MX/JP after redemption; 10 years in EU stores (DE/FR/IT/ES/NL) and the UK per regulation. The card itself does not expire before redemption.
  • Wallet covers downloadable games, paid DLC, pre-orders, and Nintendo Switch Online (Individual / Family / +Expansion Pack).
  • Wallet balance is per-Nintendo-Account and not transferable between accounts. No refund of redeemed funds back to crypto or to a different payment method.
  • Stacks with funds already on the wallet and with other Nintendo eShop cards on the same account, no cap.

Asked & answered

Specifics for Nintendo cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Does the eShop card work on Switch only, or also 3DS / Wii U?

Nintendo retired the 3DS and Wii U eShops in March 2023 — those stores no longer accept new funds or new purchases. Today an eShop card adds funds to the Nintendo Switch eShop on Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED, redeemed via a Nintendo Account. If you only own a 3DS or Wii U, the card cannot be used.

Why is the card region-locked? Which store does mine work on?

Each Nintendo eShop card prints in a specific currency and is tied to that country's eShop only. A US card redeems on a US-region Nintendo Account, a UK card on a UK account, a Japanese card on a JP account, and so on. The region is set when you create the Nintendo Account and is hard to change later. Pick the country matching the account you actually game on — buying the wrong region locks the funds to a store you can't use.

Can I use the balance for Nintendo Switch Online?

Yes. The eShop wallet pays for Nintendo Switch Online (individual or family plan) and the Switch Online + Expansion Pack (which adds N64, GBA, and Sega Mega Drive libraries plus DLC for Animal Crossing and Splatoon 2). Renewals can also be charged against the wallet — set it as the default payment method in your account settings.

How do I redeem the code on my Switch?

On the console: open the eShop from the home menu, pick your user, click your profile icon top-right, choose Redeem Code, and enter the 16-character code from the email. On the web: sign in at ec.nintendo.com/redeem with the matching-region Nintendo Account and paste the code there. Funds land in the wallet instantly and stack with anything already on it.

Can I share the wallet balance with my family?

The eShop wallet is per-Nintendo-Account, not per-console. If you set up a Nintendo Account Family Group, the family admin can buy software gifted to a child account, and a Switch Online Family Membership covers up to 8 accounts in the same group. Wallet funds themselves don't move between accounts — buy the gift card directly into the account that will spend it.

Does the balance cover DLC, demos, and pre-orders?

Yes for paid DLC (Mario Kart 8 booster passes, Splatoon 3 expansions, Pokémon DLC, etc.), pre-orders (charged when the game unlocks), and the full downloadable software catalogue. Free demos and free-to-start games like Fortnite or Tetris 99 don't cost anything — your balance stays untouched.

Does the balance expire?

In the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Japan, eShop wallet funds do not expire once redeemed. EU stores (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands) and the UK cap stored balance validity at 10 years from the redemption date — that's the EU/UK consumer-protection floor, not a Nintendo policy. The card itself doesn't expire before redemption.

What if my code doesn't work?

Open your order page (link in the delivery email) within 14 days. We re-issue a fresh code or refund the full amount in your original coin — no forms, no proof. About 0.4 % of orders need this, almost always due to a typo when entering the 16 characters or a region mismatch on the Nintendo Account.
